- Micro-incision cataract surgery with micro-incisional intraocular lenses.
- Refractive lens exchange surgery with multifocal intraocular lenses for restoration of near vision, toric intraocular lenses to correct astigmatism.

Professional profile:
- Dr Kent completed his medical degree and ophthalmology training in Auckland. He completed a post-graduate fellowship in glaucoma in London and a second fellowship in excimer laser surgery and cataract surgery in South Carolina.
- He established Fendalton Eye Clinic in 1996 and has been a surgical innovator performing the first South Island excimer laser surgeries as well as many other new techniques in eye surgery.
- He is a regular presenter at international scientific ophthalmology conferences.
- Dr Kent’s major specialties are blade-free all-laser LASIK for correction of eye focusing problems, refractive cataract surgery, multifocal and toric intraocular lenses and treatment of keratoconus with intra-corneal rings.
Personal profile:
Dr Kent is married with five children. Interests include keeping fit, tramping, skiing, boating, fishing and spending time with his children.
