Arrival
Please present to Oxford Clinic lobby on arrival. From there you will be directed to either the hospital admissions desk or the waiting area. You are welcome to bring your family or friends with you who can stay with you until the time of your admission. If they wish to stay until you are ready for discharge a waiting area is available for them. The admissions nurse will be able to give an approximate time that you will be ready for collection but this can vary due to a number of factors. The person collecting you will be contacted to confirm collection time when you are ready to go home.
A member of our nursing staff will admit you and prepare you for your procedure or surgery. Please let your nurse know if you have any particular cultural, spiritual, social or emotional needs that would help us in planning your care. Your nurse will also be able to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have. Your specialist and (if applicable) your anaesthetist will see you before your procedure or surgery.
Your arrival time is usually 15 – 30 minutes prior to your procedure to allow time for the Admissions Nurse to assess your individual needs and carry out any preparation required. In some cases, there may be unforeseen delays to the commencement of your procedure due to earlier procedures extending beyond their allotted time. Should this occur, the Admissions Nurse will keep you informed and ensure that you are comfortable during any extended waiting period.

If you wish to do so please discuss this with your anaesthetist and specialist prior to your child’s procedure or surgery. We also try to reunite parents with their child as soon as possible after the procedure or surgery and it is likely that you will be invited to join your child in the recovery area.
