Hospital Visitors

Oxford Clinic recognizes the importance of family and whanau support and welcomes visits by family and friends.

We do not have set visiting hours, however, we advise visitors to call the hospital beforehand, to arrange a suitable time, as in some instances visiting restrictions may apply.

In consideration of both patient wellbeing and the comfort and privacy of other patients in the Recovery area, visitors to this area are restricted. Please be aware that visitors to Recovery are admitted at the discretion of the nursing staff and are limited to one person per patient at any time.

All Hospital Visitors are asked to report to the Hospital Reception on the 3rd Floor on arrival.
We have an additional waiting area on Level 1 where tea and coffee facilities are available.

The nearest cafes to the Clinic are:

  • The Boatshed, which is situated on Cambridge Terrace on the other side of the Avon, next to the pedestrian bridge adjacent to Christchurch Hospital.
  • Dose, which is situated on Tuam Street between Montreal and Durham Streets.
  • Café 272, which is situated on corner of Antigua and Tuam Streets.

To promote the comfort of all our patients, visitors are asked to keep their visits brief. If possible, please co-ordinate family visits to allow for ample rest time.

By prior arrangement, parents may stay overnight with younger patients.

Babies who require breastfeeding can be accommodated according to the mothers’ condition.

A Whanau Room is available to family upon request.

For security reasons, the main doors of the hospital are locked each evening at 6pm. A security guard is able to grant access to visitors until 7:30pm. Please ask our nursing staff about access to Oxford Clinic after this time.
